Yilin Wang is a writer, editor, and content strategist who lives on unceded Musqueam, Sḵwxwú7mesh, and Tsleil-Waututh land (Vancouver, Canada).

Yilin’s fiction and poetry have appeared in Ricepaper Magazine, Abyss & Apex, LooseLeaf Magazine, Cerebration JournalFault Lines Poetry Journal, and is forthcoming in Contemporary Verse 2. Her short story “Drifters” was a finalist in The Malahat Review’s Far Horizons Award for Short Fiction.

Her non-fiction articles and interviews have appeared in Business Insider, Matador Network, The TyeeRoom Magazine, Asian Traveler Magazine, Canadian Newcomer, Nineteen Questions, and other publications.

Yilin is the Poetry Editor at Ricepaper Magazine and serves on the Editorial Collective of Room Magazine. She has worked on literary projects and events with organizations such as the Surrey International Writer’s Conference, Asian Canadian Writer’s Workshop, Chinese Canadian Writer’s Association, World Poetry Canada, and the BC Association of Travel Writers.

With a passion for teaching, Yilin has served as a Teaching Assistant at the University of British Columbia (UBC), a writing consultant, and a private tutor. She will be leading creative writing workshops and mentoring high school students at University Hill Secondary School in 2018 through the New Shoots program.

As a part of her Creative Writing MFA at UBC, Yilin is currently working on a fantasy novel inspired by Chinese folklore and a collection of short stories about migration in the global Chinese diaspora.
